Case study

Building pages that Google and AI assistants can read

People now ask ChatGPT and other assistants what is on in Bali or what a villa should cost, and the assistants answer from pages they can read. Balievents and Baliestate, the two products Koza Lab runs, are built for that: every page is served as finished HTML with structured data, each site publishes an llms.txt guide to its own pages, and a daily job asks an AI search engine the questions visitors ask and records which sites it cites.

What do the pages carry?

SiteStructured data on its pages
BalieventsEach event page: Event with its Offer, place, schedule and breadcrumbs; the organization and its website search
BaliestateEach area page: the listings as an ItemList of Accommodation with Offers, a Dataset for its price figures, FAQPage and breadcrumbs

How is a page written to be quoted?

  • The answer comes first, in one or two sentences, with a date: a live count, a median price, the next date of a weekly night.
  • Figures say where they come from. Baliestate’s prices are asking prices from partner agencies, and it gives no median from fewer than five listings.
  • A recurring event shows its next date, not an old post, so an assistant does not send someone to a night that has passed.

How do we know whether it works?

A daily job puts the questions visitors actually ask, such as “Events in Canggu tonight” or “How much does it cost to rent a 1 bedroom villa in Canggu per month?”, in English, Indonesian and Russian, to an AI search engine with web search, and stores the sites each answer cites. Search Console and the sites’ own visit logs show the rest: visits from chatgpt.com are counted as their own channel.

Does it also answer on the site?

Yes. Balievents has an ask box beside its search that answers from the live event catalogue, and Baliestate’s search takes a description in plain language and returns matching live listings.

Frequently asked questions

What is llms.txt?

A plain-text file at the root of a site that tells AI assistants what the site is and which of its pages to trust. Both balievents.co and baliestate.co publish one.

Why serve finished HTML?

Many crawlers and AI assistants do not run JavaScript. A page rendered at build time shows them the same content a visitor sees.

Can Koza Lab do this for another business?
